AFI #87 (1998 list)
Notable quotes:
"He's alive! He's alive! In the name of God! Now I know what it feels like to be God!"
Notable scenes:
Frankenstein playing with Maria (especially Maria's naivete).
Opening scene with Edward Van Sloan providing the disclaimer.
The ending left me feeling uneasy. Clearly he was unfit for society and was an unnatural creature, but did he deserve to be engulfed in flames? Frankenstein's monster was still an innocent.

All Quiet on the Western Front (1930)
AFI #54
Notable quotes:
"All's fair in love and war."
"You still think it's beautiful to die for your country. The first bombardment taught us better. When it comes to dying for country, it's better not to die at all"
"Wasn't worth your trouble, he's dead."
Notable scenes:
End scene with the butterfly. (Nearly wept then).
Scene when Mueller tactlessly asks Kemmerich for his boots after Kemmerich has been amputated.
Paul's passionate speech to the students when he returns home.
The scene with the French girls (obviously because I could understand them).

AFI's 100 Movies... 100 Years (2007 edition)
So I've decided to finally finish watching all of 100 movies* on AFI's 100 Movies... 100 Years list. Although I'm familiar with most of the films on the list I haven't seen them all--kind of embarassing. Anywho, I'm pretty gung ho** about this and told myself I'd watch them all during the winter break. However, I ended up watching The Graduate (1967 #7) last night and loved it. So I suppose I'll start this endeavour earlier than I had originally planned.
Tonight I'll watch...
On the Waterfront (1954 #19).
*I won't be watching them in the order of their ranking.
**I must admit however, I'm less than enthusiastic*** about watching Star Wars (#13) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (#15).
***Edit: Am really looking forward to watching both of them now actually.
